Endocrinology is the medical specialty that addresses disorders of the endocrine system and its secretions, called hormones. Diabetes is the most prevalent endocrinal condition, and results from either low levels of the glucose-regulating hormone insulin, or the body’s irregular resistance to insulin.
Comprehensive treatment programs
Scripps Health medical internists focus on regulating patients’ endocrine system problems through the most current treatment methods, diet and exercise. The most common endocrinal diseases include:
- diabetes mellitus (about one-half of our patients)
- thyroid disease
- adrenal and pituitary problems
- osteoporosis
Whatever condition patients are facing, our care teams have a plan to help them regain quality of life.
